Hi, y’all!
I recently consulted for and collaborated with the Clinical Training Center for Sexual and Reproductive Health. Two resources were developed from that work, which included a number of other folks I’m honored to be in community with and aligned-on our trauma-informed care lens: a video walking through trauma-informed care for a pelvic examination (video below), and a Clinician Guide for Trauma Informed Care (linked here, and photo below). Both are public resources - please share! Would love to hear your thoughts - it’s rare I do recordings, so this is really stepping out of the box for my work.
Consulting on resources like this - guides, policies, and front-facing communications - is some of my favorite work to do these days. Reach out if I can be of support to your projects!

Second, I am offering an updated version of my trauma-informed care 1-hour workshop as a sliding scale donation for the Midwest Access Project’s clinician training program, in recognition of April as Sexual Assault Survivor Awareness and Prevention Month. I recently became Chair of the Board of Directors for MAP, and having been on the Board since 2016 I remain so proud of how we have scaled up opportunities for midwives and all advanced practice clinicians - and students of those professions - seeking training in abortion care, in such an unnecessarily, historically-rooted, and ultimately harmful physician-centric dynamic. The second hour will be Q&A and I’ll have case studies to keep the conversation going. If you’ve heard me give a version of this talk before, I did a lot of updating last year and added a significant amount of content on consent, so it might be worth joining! Would love to have you there. Donate here, and the zoom link will be sent out 24 hours beforehand (easy bitly in the flyer if you pass this along / share on socials).

As a reminder, I write a subscription newsletter every week-ish* that always includes a personal reflection, and as I enter into the fifth year of writing will continue to include highlights of news and considerations for conversations between patients and providers. I’m hoping to do more critical commentary as part of those reflections for year five, and as scripts come to me and continue to feel natural I’ll add those in! Trauma-informed care scripts can be found in the archives which all subscribers have access to!
Thanks, as always, for being here with me.
In solidarity,
Stephanie (Feminist Midwife)
*my brain is working hard to keep up with it, because it brings so much joy to write! this week’s issue will be out tonight, y’all.
